EUREKA EAST WATERFRONT

EUREKA, CA
COMPLETED: IN PROGRESS

The Eureka East Water Front Study was undertaken as an initiative of the City of Eureka Parks and Recreation Department. K. Boodjeh Architects worked with the City to develop a vision for the currently under utilized waterfront area in Eureka. As the former industrial uses have left the bay, developable space has opened up. The conceptual study envisions a new recreational area that capitalizes on the site’s proximity to the water and incorporates the interpretive trail already planned for the site. Proposed additions include a new Farmer’s Market block and food truck court, baseball and soccer fields, tennis courts, indoor swimming pool, hotel, cafes, and retail spaces. All of these uses are intended to support the community and fill recreational needs as well as provide coastal serving interpretive opportunities for area tourists.
